School Business Manager

Contract Type: Part time 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
Salary: Grade J £37,035-£40,476 (FTE)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, organized, and experienced School Business Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our school operates smoothly and efficiently by managing financial planning, budgets, personnel, resources, procurement, and facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on the day-to-day functioning of our school while contributing to its long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure financial sustainability and transparency.
  • Manage the school’s resources, including facilities, IT systems, and staff recruitment.
  • Lead procurement processes, ensuring value for money and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor and review the school’s operational processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Supervise and develop administrative and support staff.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in financial management, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders, including staff, parents, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of school finance systems, policies, and regulations (e.g., funding, procurement, and auditing processes).
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Temporary Deputy Head

 

Due to the maternity leave of the current Deputy, the Governors wish to appoint a temporary Deputy Headteacher with a proven track record of excellent classroom practice who is child centered and will support our school values. This could also be a fantastic secondment opportunity!

 

We are seeking an ambitious and energetic professional with experience of leading teams, monitoring teaching and learning, successfully leading improvement and raising standards. Our PROUD ethos is valued by our families and staff and as a school we expect everyone to actively contribute to and promote our strong, positive ethos. We are looking for someone with experience leading Reading & RWInc phonics across the school. The applicant will need to be able to monitor and drive forwards improvements in reading in line with our School Improvement Plan.

 

The applicant will need to have experience as a DSP, as part of the role will be as Deputy DSL. The applicant will need to have a good understanding of Inclusion and SEND. If you are a dynamic and inspirational leader with the capacity to grow and develop in the role, if you have initiative, constructive enthusiasm, a thorough knowledge of all key stages and the ambition to play a major role in the leadership and management of our school then we would love to hear from you.
