General Nursery information for Parents

Nursery Application Form

We are a County Primary school which admits children age 3 and 4 into our Nursery. The Nursery intake is 39 each academic year and places are allocated from the waiting list in order of application, unless special circumstances warrant a priority place.

Application forms can be completed in the school year of the child’s second birthday. We admit children in small groups over a short period of time, for five mornings, Monday-Friday. We offer a number of full time (30 hour) extended care funded places for those parents who are eligible.

Morning sessions are: 8.30am to 11.30am.

30 hour sessions are 8.30am to 2.30pm

Parents are asked to bring their child to the Nursery door through the garden area. This is also a useful time to share any relevant information with a member of the Nursery team. At the end of the session, children are to be collected from the main Nursery door.

In the Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework and all the curriculum areas your child will meet in later schooling have their beginnings in the Nursery. They are called areas of learning and will help your child to develop socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually. Please see Curriculum Areas for more information on the EYFS section of the website.

Learning experiences are planned for the children ensuring that a balance of opportunities is available. Each half term there is a particular focus or theme and our plans are always on display in the Nursery.

We aim to create an informal, child centred environment where your child is encouraged to explore, experiment, test ideas, hypothesise and succeed. We believe that first hand experiences are vital to young children and provide a wide range of open ended equipment and materials with which they can investigate and acquire new skills. Drawing on our professional training and expertise, we are able to recognise the learning potential which can be present when your child is playing. We can support and extend their learning, helping them to think, reason, create, imagine, communicate and co-operate. Children enjoy and are strongly motivated by their play and, as they play, they learn.

We are committed to working in partnership with all parents and we greatly welcome, encourage and value parental involvement in the Nursery.
