School closed to all but key workers & vulnerable pupils.
As I hope you are aware we are absolutely committed to keeping school open as long as it is safe and there is nothing we want more than to keep school open for all of our pupils. Schools have been placed in an impossible situation over the past few days.
We had intended to open the school fully tomorrow 5th January, however, the situation has changed over the past 48 hours. The teaching and support staff unions have instructed their staff not to attend school in light of the increase in Covid cases and the new variant. I have been advised by a number of my staff that they have chosen to follow their union's advice. In light of this it means that we have insufficient staff available in school to open fully. Therefore the governors and I have made the decision that we can only open to key worker and vulnerable pupils. If you are on our key worker list you will be contacted by a member of my staff today. Class teachers will provide remote learning for children not attending school which can be accessed via the secure parent area on the school website. Our Nursery will close and we are unable to provide care for any Nursery aged pupils. The nursery staff will need to be redeployed elsewhere in school.
We will review this on 15th January in the hope that all pupils will be able to return on 18th January.
This is NOT a decision we have taken lightly. We have to do everything we can to keep our school community safe.
Thank you for your support,
