In Geography and History, we use our studies to celebrate the past and present of British life and culture.
In Geography, pupils develop their knowledge of people and places in order to understand the physical, social and economic forces which shape those places and the lifestyles of the people who live there. We study Geography through our use of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which links the study of our world with other subjects and motivates pupils to see the significance of their work in their everyday lives. Geography is taught within units of work.
Our studies and partnerships within the local community and our wider relationships with schools from other countries has provided us with the recognition as an International School. We were awarded the International School Intermediate Award in the summer of 2016 and we aim to develop our links with other schools further through our study of German.
In History, we encourage pupils to explore the past and develop a love for finding out how things were for people in a variety of historical contexts. History is taught as part of our use of the International Primary Curriculum. Specialist units have been devised in response to the national curriculum. Pupils are provided with an opportunity to explore the past by using a wide range of sources. We are proud of our engagement within the local community and understand the significance of learning about the History of Rushden. We regularly support local events such as Armed Forces Day and our local museums. We also have formed a positive partnership with the Royal British Legion.
At Denfield Park, we believe our curriculum in History and Geography engages the pupils and motivates them to learn about the world and the past.
