English Homework

Additional printed copies of comprehension activities are available in class, if your child mislays their copy.

English homework this term will primarily be reading comprehension activities. These will usually be issued on a Wednesday, for completion by the following Wednesday. The text and answers will be discussed together in class. We will remind the children when each task needs to be completed.  If Active Learn homework is set instead, we will let the children know. Your support, help and encouragement with homework tasks is very much appreciated.

Please read with your child regularly at home. Each time your child reads to an adult they are awarded a reading point which is recorded on their own individual reading card. When the children get a certain amount of reads, they are rewarded with an extra play on Friday.

This year, we are introducing a reward scheme for spelling achievement. Children in Year 4 will be issued a new set of spellings each week and these will be stuck into their homework diaries on a Friday. Spelling tests will take place on a Thursday and if the children achieve their target number of spellings (set by their English group teacher) they will receive achievement points. At the end of each term the points will be totalled. If they have reached their target, they will receive a reward to be decided during that term.
